Final Year Project 1 Week 6

At week 6, continue my research for my project

      Energy Conversion

Energy can’t be created or destroy it only can be from one energy to one energy .The process transformation changing one form of energy to another is called Energy transformation or energy conversion . Energy in a system may be transformed so that it resides in a different state, or a different type of energy. Energy in many states may be used to do many varieties of physical work. Energy may be used in natural processes or machines, or else to provide some service to society such as heat, light, or motion. There is a device that converts energy from one form to another called transducer. There is a device that converts energy from one form to another called transducer. For example using LM35 as transducer to detect heat from a candle and display it at LCD .The conversion is from heat to voltage.

  Energy Harvesting
Energy harvesting or also known as power harvesting is the process by which energy is derived from external sources solar power, thermal energy, wind energy, salinity gradients and kinetic energy captured. Energy harvesters provide a very small amount of power enough for low-energy device. While the energy source for energy harvesters is present as ambient background and is free.
Some of the energy harvesting systems which use different sources to generate electrical energy and their efficiencies are given below
·         Mechanical energy into electricity-generators (20-70% efficiency), piezoelectric systems (0.5-15% efficiency)
·         Chemical into electricity; fuel cells (25-35% efficiency), primary batteries, rechargeable batteries
·         Heat/cold into electricity; seebeck-elements (2-5% efficiency)
·         Electromagnetic radiation into electricity; photovoltaic systems.
